I'm just an old guy embarking on his sixth career.
I write under the pen name Sora Xenara. I have no idea why I chose that name; it seemed like a good idea at the time. It pretty much captures who I am. If I like how it sounds, I use it; if it doesn’t fit, I try something different. I’ve never been one to sit around wondering if things will work out. I’m not afraid to attempt the impossible. To me, it’s not the end, but the journey that matters.
My Style
As Sorara Xenara, I rely heavily on deadpan humor as a core stylistic tool, be it in my Real Illegal Aliens or the Odyssey Journey series. My comedy is rarely loud or exaggerated. Instead, it comes from characters reacting to absurd situations with calm, understated, or matter-of-fact responses.
Highlight the Absurb
I use satire to treat human institutions with the same seriousness the characters give them, then let the inherent absurdity of those institutions speak for itself. The result is a grounded, character-driven satire that feels observational rather than preachy.
Find Solutions
In my Odyssey’s Journeys: The Edge of Extinction is written in a clear, character-driven third-person limited style that emphasizes competent protagonists navigating high-stakes interstellar conflicts. The tone blends pragmatic military and diplomatic problem-solving with understated dry humor and moments of personal warmth, keeping the focus on relationships and practical decision-making amid larger threats.
